Larry Savage

Candidate for Chairman, Cobb County Board of Commissioners

A local product, Larry Savage grew up in Atlanta, making his home after college in Dekalb County. In 1976 he moved to Cobb, attracted to the image of small government and self-reliant people. Cobb has now been a comfortable home for 35 years.

Larry holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA. A 40-year career in industry provided experience in every type of factory imaginable, from the most basic to the most sophisticated. He’s had assignments in engineering, supervisory positions, management, sales and marketing, and sales management, including the turnaround of a failing business within Loctite Corporation.

Larry has travelled extensively, primarily through the United States, Mexico and Canada, Europe and China.

A growing interest in local government and civic affairs led to a run for the Cobb Chairmanship in previous elections.

Larry has carried on a mission of making government accountable. In 2015 he represented himself in legal action regarding the bond financing of SunTrust Park, including presenting oral argument at the state Supreme Court. Other involvement has included court cases in opposition to tax abatement plans for developers and ethics complaints against public officials.

His personal joys are special interest classic cars and motorcycles and home improvement projects.
